Understanding and Improving Idaho’s Tax System
We provide reliable, accessible information about Idaho’s tax system to our members, elected officials, and the public. Our research covers the full scope of state taxation — including counties, cities, school districts, tax codes, and business taxes.

Through ongoing collaboration with state and local governments, we collect and analyze data on tax levies, impact of taxes on a typical Idaho family and tax collection/ expenditures. We make this information available in a clear, comprehensive format to support informed decision-making by policymakers, journalists, researchers, and concerned citizens.
Our work includes:

• Analyzing proposed tax legislation and its impact on state and local fiscal policy.
• Publishing research that breaks down taxes paid by a typical Idaho family (The Spud Family).
• Hosting an Annual Taxpayers Conference — a statewide forum to explore Idaho’s economy, tax policies, and public concerns.
• Presenting at the Legislative Economic Outlook & Revenue Assessment Committee.
• Presenting findings in community forums and other public events.
• Organizing annual Board and Membership meetings, Executive Committee sessions, and special tax committees to address emerging issues requiring independent analysis.
